Inspired by race cars, supercars, and the latest Evora GT430, Wheel-well Relief Vents are an old aerodynamic trick that has been making a resurgence on high-performance street cars like the GT3 RS from Stuttgart.
As speeds go up, front tires churn more air into the wheel-well. Relief vents allow this air to escape at one of the tightest pinch points around the tires where the pressure is greatest. Additionally, high speeds often create a negative pressure (vacuum) above the front deck—this negative pressure pulls the wheel-well air through the Relief Vents. The cumulative benefit adds to the "grounds effects” package creating negative pressure under the car—including the wheel-wells–to pull the car down into the racing surface which will theoretically yield higher levels of grip and thus cornering ability.
Each pair of our vents are individually hand-crafted in fiberglass or glossy “pre-preg” dry carbon fiber construction (lighter and stronger than our previous carbon overlay) to fit any Evora, Evora S, 4xx-series, or GT car. The vents include the upper louver cap as well as the connecting tunnels to channel air from the stock wheel well and metal rock-guard grills. Installation involves cutting your stock clam and wheel wells and while not difficult, is very much a measure 100x, cut 1x.
As with all composite fiberglass pieces, prep & pre-finish work may be needed prior to final painting. Exposed carbon fiber finishes are clear coated with UV protection however due to the nature of composite production, carbon fiber finishes may have minor imperfections.
These compliment our 430 Front Access Hatch and are the perfect addition to our 430 front and rear bumpers to complete the look.
For those looking to update the factory painted wheel well relief vents to our carbon fiber finish, we are sad to say the two are not interchangeable. The factory louvers are sized slightly different and the two can not be interchanged.
