for GT cars
The U.S. Evora GTs include a baffled engine oil pan that manages the oil “sloshing” during long duration, high speed turns. This pan has multiple internal compartments that keep the oil near the oil pickup tube and prevents oil starvation that can result in low oil pressure and loss of engine lubrication. In the most severe cases, this can prevent an engine from seizing on the race track. These internal compartments have gates that allow oil to stay or flow toward the oil pickup but prevents them from flowing in the counter direction. These gates are typically made of Viton, which is a rubber material specifically formulated to endure oil & fuel that would quickly deteriorate natural rubber. Unfortunately, Viton can only slow down the molecular breakdown so Lotus recommends replacing these gates every two years, regardless of mileage. While replacing the actual gates is fairly straightforward, gaining access to them does require the removal of the oil pan.
Curious if your oil pan is baffled? Lotus baffled oil pans are red in color, and while expensive, these pans can be retrofitted to all other 2010+ U.S. Evoras.
For this two-year maintenance, we carry the factory Lotus gates. Five are used per pan so naturally, we offer them in sets of five. Non-Lotus branded gates are also available from aftermarket race suppliers but for a nomimal cost increase, we recommend genuine Lotus parts.
We will try to have single gates available just-in-case; please email us if you need one.
We also have a small stock of oil pan bolts and oil pan stud & nut sets, if you need to replace some damaged or lost ones.
These items are genuine OE Lotus items from an authorized U.K. Lotus distributor and are shipped directly from us in the United States.
Continental U.S. delivery is included.
