The Lotus Maintenance Schedule recommends the engine oil & filter be replaced every 9,000 miles or 12 months. Evoras driven with on the race track or auto-crossed fall under "special conditions” and Lotus recommends a shorter 4,500 mile or 6 month oil change interval.
We’ve reduced our lineup and now offer only two one filter kit options:
- Toyota Kit: This is exactly the same filter as the one Lotus supplies except the box does not have a Lotus label (a label that is sometimes omitted even by Lotus)—there are no other differences! We get these directly from an authorized Toyota distributor and they are about half the price of the Lotus Kit.
- TRD High-performance Kit: Toyota has discontinued the TRD oil filter and there is no replacement.
While there is nothing wrong with the standard Lotus/Toyota filter, we recommend the TRD Kit for any car that is driven with spirit or at the race track. These kits are from Toyota Racing Development (TRD) which is the racing & performance group within Toyota. Each kit incudes a much sturdier, reinforced main oil filter element as well as the upper & lower oil filter housing o-rings, and draining bung. - Lotus Kit: We no longer offer the Lotus filter because it is exactly the same as the Toyota OE filter but twice as expensive!
These are the same filters used by Lotus dealerships. We no longer offer these because the are the exact same filters as the Toyota Kit but nearly double the cost simply because they are sourced from Lotus rather than Toyota.
Toyota also recommends the drain plug fiber gasket be replaced every time the plug is removed and reused. We try to keep a bunch on-hand and will include one for free as supplies last—the gasket we provide is an genuine OE Toyota item from a Toyota distributor.
All filter kits fit all Evoras including 2010 - 2014 Evora & Evora S cars, and 2016+ Evora 400 and GT-series cars.
